Professional Learning Communities

I am a voluntary member of CCIS, which is made up of educators who serve independent learners in California’s public school system. One of my roles with our high school is to provide online learning through an independent study model, which requires me to be aware of California’s current policies and laws. This organization provides conferences at state levels, as well as local levels, to provide networking, information, and support for educators that are teaching this alternative style of personalized learning.

CUE is a non-profit professional learning community that promotes and provides training and resources for innovative educators and technology leaders.  I have been a member of CUE for over six years, and have gained the best resources and training from attending the annual CUE conference, as well as the CUE Rock Star Camps. The hands-on learning and support at the Rock Star Camp benefitted me greatly as a technology learner and leader. The CUE learning community also has eight Learning Networks for specific interests. I would like to join the Administrator Network and the Independent School Network since these are both areas that I am most involved with as an educator and leader.

ISTE is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1979 with the goal of preparing students for their future, living and working in the digital age. ISTE provides resources and training for educators who desire to participate in this technological transformative style of teaching. Even if you do not have the paid membership, you can still access the ISTE blog, providing great resources and information for educators of all grade levels.
